No words can express the horror that is happening in Victoria. My heart goes out to the families devestated by the fires. So far 131 people have lost their lives and the toll can only grow.

Today has been harrowing for me at work, not only do I have friends in Victoria that I am worried for there are others who have family missing. Today I have taken call after call from people who have been evactuated. I have been asked numerous times if I can tell if a signal is getting through in a vain hope that I can tell them if their home/town is still standing. We have implemented our Natural disaster procedures for Victoria as well as North Queensland and those people facing a different trial with the major flooding.

I can only hope that those I care for are safe and will contact us when they are able too

Well chistmas is almost over so it makes sense that I finally have time to sit down and post on LJ.

First of all is a big thank you to selene2 who made me the gorgeous new banner and to alwaysjbj who made my LJ so pretty and new for me.  *squishes you both*

Speaking of pressies I managed to get some goodies.  alwaysjbj and temptation197 both gave me music gift vouchers which have already been invested in new music.  I so enjoyed our catch up lunch I have missed seeing you so much this year.  I recieved a variety of cat related knick knacks, books, DVD's and jigsaw puzzles. (My family knows me sooooo well).  My best friend Sam gave me some books and limited addition music items as well as tickets to see Iron Maiden.  Those tickets just about made me cry because I have been lamenting for months that I couldn't afford to go.

Have just managed to drag myself out of bed, am stuffed and have to go to work this afternoon.  My knees hurt, my back and neck do too but it was SOOOOOOOOOOO worth it.

Last night I went to see The Cure at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

OMG they were as good as I remembered, better even.  Last time I saw them live I was a teenager so I was hoping that time hadn't dimmed my memory or their talent.  Nope 3hrs of the most fantastic music that just wasn't long enough. lol

Robert Smith had the giggles a lot of the time and seemed to be having just a good a time as the rest of us.

I can't believe they played for so long, over 2 hrs straight and then 4 encores.  *sigh* so worth it.

Mum is home, with me and seems to have come through her Brachytherapy well.  She goes back to the hospital in September which is longer than we expected so we are taking this as a good sign.

Other then a nice dose of Bronchitis for me everyone else seems to be healthy.  I managed to get another chapter of Unexpected Arival finished and off to alwaysjbj to work her magic on.  Am not expecting it back in a hurry as she has a lot of shoulder pain at the moment and has to go to the chiroprator soon *looks pointedly*.

She has been playing in photoshop though and lookie what she did for me Pretty new banner and website.  I do lurve it *pets*.  She also made my new icon, which my daughter hates because it's of her.  Let's just say road trips and early morning starts aren't her thing.  I will get killed once she sees it but ehhhh it's soooo worth it.

Then just to add to the presants I was checking my bank this morning and got a nice surprise thanks to the taxman.  Was only expecting to get a few hundred back on my return and got a LOT more.  Colour me happy.

I haven't been getting email notifications *kicks LJ*.  A whole heap came through at once today so when I get a few minutes I will sit down and actuall reply to them.  It would help if I checked my own journal now and then instead of just updating through Semagic.

I have a new Illyria ficlet over at good__evil called Life Twice Told go check it out, or even better submit your own Illyria fic.

RL has been insane, which seems to be the norm.  Have new job which I am still training for plus a heap of Uni work to get done.

On the family front my Grandma came through her spinal surgery well, a few hiccups but she is home now.  That is unfortunately the only good news.  Last weekend my Great Uncle passed away which was one more stress I didn't need.  A few weeks ago I found out my mum has cancer, after much stuffing around with the public hospital system they sent her to Townsville hospital for exploritory surgery.  They got a little of it but there is a mass that is inoperable, they are sending her to Brisbane 'sometime in the next month' for 6 weeks radiation therapy.  At least she will be closer to me once she arrives.  Thankfully it dosen't look as though it has moved to her spine, which has been a major concern.

Ok now I've gotten my dreary update done I'm off to get ready for work

I quit my job, today is my last shift and I am already starting to miss people.

I start my new job monday and I'm terrified.

My grandmother called this morning to tell me she goes into hospital wednesday for major spinal surgery.  She's 76 yrs and has had several major strokes and has heart problems.  She rang to say goodbye in case she dosen't make it.

I feel like RL is kicking my feet out from under me again.

Yes I finally managed to get a whole chapter written.  Hopefully it is a sign that the muse is pulling his arse out of whatever hole he's been hiding in.

This week has started of better than the last few...thank goodness.  To everyone who commented thank you so much and I will reply when I have a moment to breathe.

My friends are all doin as well as can be expected.  Some better then others.

I went away last weekend and it definately made a big difference for me.

Sunday I went to the Gold Coast Big Day Out.  I had so much fun 11 hours of non stop music with one of the best metal lineups that they have had in awhile.  Ahhh heaven.

I really enjoyed a couple of the local bands Bowser and Lump.  Lump played just before Trivium so I stayed while my friend Sam (a metal fan she is not) went sussing out the market stalls.  Trivium really should have been on a main stage, not a side stage.  People poured to the stage from every corner of the place and the earth literally shook from the mosh and I felt a twinge of sympathy for the vendors nearby who had people hanging off every available surface trying to see.

Had a little time after they finished to run to the main stages and get into the thick of the pit for My Chemical Romance.  Who put on a performace and a half, much to Sam's delight as they were the band she was most keen on seeing perform.

I in turn was just rapt that I actually got her to venture into the pit.  I relented afterwards though and we went up the hill and found ourselves a nice patch of grass to sit down and watch the rest of the performances.

In all a great yet exhausting day was had.  To any of the Aussies that may be going to any of the other cities...have fun.

Today I am doing a trial day for a new job.  It will be a management position and I have butterflies in my stomach.  Ughhh I hope it all goes well.

I want to go back to Uni, I have almost finished a Bachelor of Business (which I hated) but I have found a Bachelor of Arts degree which I can do part-time as an external student. 100% online.  Am almost to the point of enrolling although nerves are holding me back.  I want to do the History and Politics stream.  What do you think should I go for it?

My health is starting to improve although I am still in a little pain.  My current boss accused me of faking to use my sick days before I quit.  This is AFTER she was given the certificate from the hospital.  I complained to her superior, I so don't want to go back to work on Friday.

Ok going to go and continue stressing about this trial.

Just thought I'd jump on now and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to those who celebrate and get caught in the madness of the season.

I work in retail so RL has kicked my butt this week 52 hrs at work this week so far and two more days to go *sigh*

Hugs to everyone, I hope you all have a safe holiday.  As for me I have two whole days off which will be spent with family and friends, accompanied by food and drink and lots of sunshine (insert sweltering heat).
